About Me

Emily here – lovely to make your acquaintance!

Eager little wordsmith specialising in all things alternative. Rock/metal/punk/indie bangers are my bread and butter – but still able to appreciate the spark in everything, from darkwave to dreamy folk.

I’ve previously scribbled for: Metal Hammer, Universal Music Group, Festival Republic, Rock Sound, Gigwise, Download Festival, WhyNow, Gay Times + more. I also co-own Bittersweet Press and am an Editorial Assistant at Clash Magazine.

So… what’s my story?

I started out working for Sound of Pen – now a site aimed at helping students get into writing via their favourite tunes, the site used to be your standard online rock mag. When the site changed direction, the glorious Ims Taylor and myself knew it was time to take matters into our own hands – enter Bittersweet Press.

Through starting up my own publication, I have been able to push myself in ways I hadn’t previously thought possible; as well as overseeing site up-keep and editorial concerns, suddenly there was a podcast to co-host (The Bittersweet Hour), personal release schedules to maintain and total control over what artists we wanted to push.

Always open to new opportunities that will allow me to further immerse myself within the musical landscape!
